Every Thursday I look back to the past.
On the first day of this new year, I guess it’s logical to look back to 2025. I think it’s quite obvious that this was a good year for DEEWEE and its fans.
Eight years after ‘From DEEWEE’, Soulwax released its new album ‘All Systems Are Lying’ in the fall. The album was received very positively by both fans and critics, and the new show – which debuted in Brussels two weeks ago – made it clear that Dave and Steph are still on top of things and Soulwax still has its place in today’s music scene.
But let’s dive a little deeper into last year:

January:
- in anticipation of her debut album on DEEWEE, Marie Davidson released the second single ‘Demolition’ (DEEWEE 078). The 12″ of another single ‘Contrarian’ (DEEWEE 076) started shipping the same month.
February:
- Six years after Soulwax successfully remixed her track ‘Work It’, Marie Davidson released her first ful album on DEEWEE (DEEWEE 080) on February 28. Her sixth studio album ‘City Of Clowns’, was made in collaboration with Soulwax and Pierre Guerineau (Essaie pas, L’Œil Nu, Feu St-Antoine). The album has received international acclaim with features in Pitchfork, Libération, DJ Mag and Rolling Stone, amongst others.
March:
- Belgian band Das Pop, whose third album ‘Das Pop’ was produced by Dave and Steph, released their debut album ‘I ♥’ on vinyl for the first time. It includes a bonus 7″ with their first two singles, ‘Electronica For Lovers’ and ‘The Little Boy’, which were produced by David.
- When Dries van Noten retired in 2024, it was also was the end of the artistic collaboration with Dave and Steph. But it was not the end for them in the world of fashion, because they made music for Belgian designer Meryll Rogge’s first runway show at the Paris fashion week in March.
For Van Noten, Dave and Steph always remixed and edited existing music by the likes of Bowie, Sade, Roxy Music, Simple Minds and many more. But for Rogge’s show, they made an original piece of music.
April:
- Dave and Steph made the soundtrack for ‘Banger’, the debut film by So-Me’ which was released on Netflix on April 2nd.
The three original tracks they made for the movie have also been released. They’re called ‘Theme From Banger’, ‘Dans Le Club’ and ‘Dans Le Lab’. Because the dance music fits the movie, the tracks are released as 2manydjs and not Soulwax.

- Swarovski used (a snippet of) an unreleased Soulwax remix of ‘I Feel Love’ by Donna Summer in their campaign, which featured singer Ariana Grande.
The remix was actually a rework by Dave and Steph with vocals by Anohni, which they made for Dries Van Noten’s final runway show. But in the end, this didn’t work and they made an edit of Bowie’s ‘Sound And Vision’ Bowie edit instead.
May:
- No releases in May, though Marie Davidson released a video for her track ‘Demolition’. She also performed live versions of this track and ‘Contrarian’ for the Abbey Road Live Cuts x Because Music project.
June:
- Miley Cyrus sampled the Soulwax remix of ‘Work It’ by Marie Davidson in her track ‘Every Girl You’ve Ever Loved’
- Soulwax kicked off their summer tour at the Best Kept Secret festival in the Netherlands, where they dropped a few hints about the upcoming album – including the message ‘All Systems Are Lying’ that was projected on screens during the show.

July:
- The Soulwax album campaign lauched with a couple of mysterious ‘All Systems Are Lying’ billboards that were spotted in London and Paris.
- The first two tracks of the album ‘Run Free’ and ‘All Systems Are Lying’ were released on July 9.

- Dave and Steph were on double duty at the 50th anniversary of the Rock Werchter. On Sunday, the fifth of July, they first did a show with Soulwax and later closed the festival with a special anniversary 2manydjs live set.
For me, this was definitely one of the highlights of the year, because this set was one big mashup of artists that had played at Belgium’s biggest music festival in the past.
- ‘All Systems Are Lying’ (DEEWEE 086), the new album by Soulwax, was announced and set to be released in October.

August:
- ‘New Earth Time’ was released on August 22.

September:
- Dave and Steph, as 2manydjs, were in charge of the music during the H&M&180 runway show on September 18. This time they remixed ‘My Favorite Game’ by The Cardigans.
- Two new tracks from ‘All Systems Are Lying’ received a digital release: ‘Gimme A Reason’ and ‘Meanwhile On The Continent’
- Despacio returned to the US, first at the Portola festival in San Francisco and later at III Points festival.

- Natasha Pirard released the first single ‘Buisson De Mures’ of her upcoming album ‘Fernande, Cécile’ on DEEWEE.
- ‘Nite Versions‘ celebrated its 20th birthday!

October:
- Release day for ‘All Systems Are Lying’ on October 17!
Dave and Steph did a lot of interviews and podcasts to promote the new album.
To mark the release, on Wednesday October 15, at approximately 8pm local time in Brussels, the band projected the album’s charged title — ALL SYSTEMS ARE LYING — across a selection of landmark sites in the heart of the city, including the iconic European Commission building. The bold image turns the album’s themes of communication, noise and distorted truths into a stark, cinematic statement in public space.
Later that night, the album cover was projected on the stripped Belgacom tower building in Ghent, right across the DEEWEE studio.

- Natasha Pirard has released a new track of her upcoming album, Fernande, Cécile (DEEWEE 087). The song is called ‘L’ éclat’ (DEEWEE 090)
- Marie Davidson announced her new 12″ ‘City Of Clowns (MDJ Tools)’ on DEEWEE (DEEWEE 089). It includes a ‘Soulwax Dub Mix’ for ‘Push Me Fuckhead’ and ‘Sexy Clown‘.

- ‘DEEWEEKEND’ took place at Wintercircus Gent: 2 nights of DEEWEE with a mandatory dress code, dj sets and performances by Klanken, Bolis & Charlotte, ASA Moto, Marie Davidson, Leo Vincent and new artists like HATI HATI and Yu Su.
DEEWEE 013 “was released”: a wine in collaboration with French house Matassa.

November:

- Soulwax announced DEEWEE 091: a 12″ with new Nite Versions of ‘Run Free’ and ‘All Systems Are Lying’

- Soulwax collaborated with Unified Goods on super limited formats of the new Soulwax LP, ‘All Systems Are Lying‘. Twenty-five copies are made on 8-track cartridge, MiniDisc and CD longbox.
- About a week after unveiling their ‘legacy formats’ collaboration, Soulwax released another merch collaboration with Unified Goods from the UK.

December:
- Soulwax played three sold-out shows this week at Les Halles De Schaerbeek in Brussels. Here’s my review!
