Earlier this week, it was announced that the Despacio Sound System would return to the Portola Festival in San Francisco. Now that the full lineup is out, we also know Soulwax will perform at Pier 80 in September. This marks the band’s first North American show of the year.
Laima has produced the album ‘This House Is A Body’ by London experimental spoken word and electronics duo Bag.
On producing the album, Laima wrote:
I still pinch myself for having the opportunity to produce @bagbagbagsound full album. When I look back I see I’ve always looked into connecting with music in some way. I wanted to sing, play guitar and be in a band. To hang with musicians and producers. I recall twelve year old me pilling my Panasonic cassette recorder on top of my radio alarm clock to record music from the radio and make mixtapes… nothing has changed the passion and curiosity is there and if I think of my worst times I’m comforted by the fact I have music.
Going deep into someone else’s music tho, was a total new venture, listening and trying to understand what it needed and having the courage to trust I knew what it needed.
Soulwax’s drummer Aurora Bennett is officially going viral on Instagram. Just three days ago, she dropped a clip of herself drumming along to Motörhead’s ‘Ace of Spades’—and it has already racked up nearly 750,000 views and over 45,000 likes.
