Here’s some news about our favorite Canadian DEEWEE artist, Marie Davidson.
First of all, she remixed ‘World Away’ by Etienne de Crécy.
From the press release:
The transgressive French-Canadian dance music matriarch Marie Davidson steps into Étienne de Crécy’s world with a remix that strips things down and toughens the edges. Her take on “World Away” swaps the original’s warmth for chugging low-end, looming synthlines, and a sharp rework of Alexis Taylor’s vocal, chopped and flickering with precision.
It’s a natural fit for Davidson, whose catalog thrives in that tension between introspection and impact – warping techno into something raw, self-aware, and deeply personal. This remix lands squarely in that lineage: functional, but with bite.
The release helps tee up WARM UP REMIXES, the forthcoming rework of de Crécy’s 2025 album WARM UP. For anyone tracing the DNA of French Touch, de Crécy’s fingerprints are already all over it – he remains one of the movement’s original architects who still releases music to this day. Originally conceived as a more restrained, home-listening record, the album evolved during his extensive live tour as arrangements stretched and gained new club energy.
Now reimagined for the dance floor, WARM UP REMIXES brings together a stacked cast – Bob Sinclar, A-Trak, Maceo Plex, Nala, Luciano, Felix Da Housecat, and more – each reshaping the material through their own lens. Additionally, machine-master KiNK’s remix of “Ignition” is currently available as well.
With Davidson and KiNK setting the tone, the project points toward a heavier, club-ready second life.

She has also made a mix for The Fader.
from thefader.com:
Marie Davidson’s FADER Mix feels like a found poem, with disparate clips of sonic material attached together, creating new meaning from striking contrast. On it, dramatic operatics descend into “Timeless” by The Weeknd and Playboi Carti. And Lana Del Rey’s “White Feather Hawk Tail Deer Hunter” melts into a screecher by Scottish brutalist KAVARI before the high concept art trap of Chino Amobi enters the space. While many mixes strive for seamlessness, Davidson makes the seams into a feature, provoking us to find a new musical poetics in the stitched and sutured.
