For almost seventy years, snackbar Martino has been a fixture in Ghent – hometown of David and Stephen Dewaele. If you’ve ever lived or studied in Ghent, you have probably eaten there.
On September 7, Martino will celebrate its birthday and DEEWEE is involved. As you can see in this teaser video:
So what’s the connection between Martino and DEEWEE? Well, first of all, Dave and Steph have probably been eating there occasionally their whole lives.
You can spot Martino in the ‘Part Of The Weekend Never Dies‘ documentary very briefly, when the Dewaeles take their dj friends – including Justice – there for a meal.
Here’s a picture of David and Stephen at Martino from 2003, together with theatre maker Arne Sierens.

But also, Gilles Noë from ASA Moto and his brother Guillaume now own the restaurant, after taking it over from their dad and aunt.

Speaking of Belgian theater, DEEWEE has also been involved in a new play by Brussels-based artist Miet Warlop. She will represent Belgium at the 2026 Venice Biennale.
In May this year, at the Kunstenfestivaldesarts in Brussels, Warlop presented ‘Inhale Delirium Exhale,’ an immersive experience that transforms the stage into a living, breathing force of nature as 6,500m of silk ripples across the stage.
The pulsing soundtrack was made by DEEWEE, the label of Belgian brothers Stephen and David Dewaele, known from the bands Soulwax and 2manydjs. DEEWEE will also create the music that will draw visitors to ‘It Never SSST’ in Venice.

A couple of the dj sets from the DEEWEE night at Lokerse Feesten last Saturday, was streamed on their website.
Thanks to Suup from the Soulwax fan community, you can watch the sets of PIM and Iggor Cavalera on youtube:
