In this series I look back at all the releases on DEEWEE, this week: DEEWEE 021 – Charlotte Adigéry.
It’s probably a coincidence that Charlotte Adigéry‘s first EP on DEEWEE was released right after Bolis Pupul’s second DEEWEE release back in 2017.
Though Charlotte and Bolis worked together on her debut EP, it wasn’t until the release of their debut album, Topical Dancer, that they released tracks together as ‘Charlotte Adigéry & Bolis Pupul’.

We first heard of Charlotte Adigéry a year earlier, in 2016, when she sang on ‘The Best Thing‘, a track on the Belgica soundtrack written and produced by Soulwax. Adigéry, who had a small role in the film, was introduced to the Dewaele brothers during production. While they were recording ‘The Best Thing’ together, Adigéry worked up the courage to introduce them to her own music.
From the press release:
Charlotte is a friend of DEEWEE’s. She sings in both English & French.
This E.P was written in collaboration between Charlotte and Bolis Pupul then produced by the Dewaele brothers at DEEWEE.
A brief rundown on the tracks…
‘1,618’ arrives somewhere between a futurist song and a cosmic disco sound. It twists and turns.
‘Senegal Seduction’ is a slow melodic ride. ‘Je m’appelle Charlotte’.
‘Le Froid’ is a percussive vocal dub piece. Charlotte’s vocals turned inside then out again.
‘Celle’ is a song addressed to a father and a heartbeat to finish.
Tracklist:
A1. 1,618
A2. Senegal Seduction
B1. Le Froid
B2. Celle
